HENDRICK CONSTRUCTION COMPLETES CLEAN ROOM RENOVATIONS FOR G&W LABORATIRIES INC.

Acquisition of Facility in 2014 Kept 300 Employees Working

Charlotte, N.C., April 15, 2016 … Hendrick Construction recently completed a renovation of a clean room for New Jersey-based G&W Laboratories Inc. at its facility in Lincolnton, N.C. Prior to G&W Laboratories acquisition of the facility in 2014, it was owned by Actavis which had planned to phase out production at the facility that employees 300 people. The renovation of the clean room was part of G&W Laboratories plan to spend $3.5 million for additional equipment at the site.

Hendrick Construction’s  renovation of the facility at 1877 Kawai Road involved demolishing an existing clean room and sealing it off from the rest of the facility to prevent dust and other contaminants from entering.  In addition to new walls and ceilings, Hendrick Construction also installed new mechanical air handling and exhaust equipment and  sealed clean room lighting.

“This was a tough project that was renovated to exacting specifications based on its use as a clean room facility,” said Roger Hendrick, president of Hendrick Construction. “We were able to complete the renovation within 10 weeks, which was important since operations were ongoing. We were pleased to participate in this project since it is economically important to our region.”

When G&W Laboratories acquired the facility, Crystal Gettys, business development manager for the Lincoln Economic Development Association, said it was “rewarding to work with a company such as G&W Laboratories who appreciates the current talent and wants to secure that talent.”

“We believe the facility, operations, staff and the surrounding community make for a perfect fit operationally and culturally for G&W Laboratories,” said Ron Greenblatt, Chairman of the company.

G&W Laboratories manufactures OTC and prescription hydrocortisone, antifungal and permethrin products as creams, ointments, liquids and suppositories. The company was founded by Carl Greenblatt in 1919 upon his return from World War I. The company is still family-owned and Carl Greenblatt's grandson Ron is now chairman, and Ron's son Aaron is CEO.
