Carolina Cinemas Raleigh offers luxurious movie-going experience
Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 15, 2016 … Hendrick Construction recently finished a complete transformation of the movie theaters at Grove Barton Road. Recently reopened as Carolina Cinemas Raleigh, guests have been wowed by the setting and amenities.
“This was a fun and interesting transformation,” said Roger Hendrick, president of Hendrick Construction. “We phased the project so the theater could remain open during the renovation, and maintaining a positive guest experience was critical throughout the project.”
With a 52-foot tall atrium at the center of the building, Hendrick had to build and move temporary walls as it worked on one side while the other remained open. Among the many upgrades was expanding a small kitchen area used to prepare hot dogs and popcorn to a full-service restaurant kitchen with full-size hood, pizza oven and walk-in beer cooler.
While the footprint of the 16 theaters remains the same, the number of seats shrank for a more intimate and comfortable experience. The largest previously had a capacity of 260 people; today, it can accommodate 180, all in plush recliners and sofas with ottomans.
The new kitchen serves a wide array of salads, sandwiches, pizza and snacks. The bar features 18 craft beers from local breweries, domestic and import selections in bottles and cans and several wine selections.
Luxurious touches are everywhere, from spacious lounge area with its soaring atrium to the granite countertops in the restrooms. Guests can also buy tickets online and select their seats in advance.
