TWO HOTELS UNDER CONSTRUCTION NEAR LANGTREE

CHARLOTTE, NC., July 25, 2018 … Hendrick Construction is underway of a four-acre site off Interstate 77 at Exit 31 with two six-story hotels, a project valued at $40 million. Aloft, a Marriott brand, and Tru by Hilton will add 262 much-needed rooms to south Iredell County's hotel market, a 25 percent increase to the about 1,000 rooms currently available.

“I wish they were open now,” said Kirk Ballard, president of the Mooresville-South Iredell Chamber of Commerce.

“The market is underserved by certain products, such as the high-end brands,” says J.D. Deva, CEO and co-founder at Charlotte-based Maya Hotels, the owner and developer of the two hotels.

Aloft, a Marriot brand, bills itself as the next generation of hotel, using technology and design to enhance experience. The new hotel will include 138 rooms. The hotel’s bar includes live music by emerging and local artists as well as an around-the-clock shop for snacks, salads and sandwiches as well as to-go breakfast items. Guests can text Botlr, a robot, for extra pillows, fresh towels or toiletries to be quickly delivered to their room.

Tru by Hilton is known as vibrant, young-at-heart and energetic. The new Tru will include 124 rooms, and feature a modern fitness center, 24/7 coffee service and market, mobile check-in and digital room keys, a communal work space and a game room.

Both hotels should be complete in early 2020 in plenty of time for the will be ready for the 2020 Republican National Convention planned for Aug. 24-27 in Charlotte. When open, the Aloft and Tru hotels will employ about 120 people.

“We are excited to be building two hotels on the same site simultaneously,” said Roger Hendrick, president of Hendrick Construction. “While we have extensive experience constructing hospitality venues, this is our first double hotel project.”

“The land and other details are just about the same whether you do one or two,” added Deva, “If you can do one, you can do two.”
